Excited as always to welcome back Kyle, ThatPickleballGuy, for this weekās Level Up tip!
Hey Pickleheads readers,
Most players, when theyāre at the kitchen line speed the ball up. But few consider, āwhere should I speed up to?ā.
When youāre speeding up the ball, thereās only three places you should be aiming for.
Down the line
Your opponentās dominant sided hip or shoulder
Directly down the middle

Now which one of these is better? I encourage you to prioritize the first two. Down the line or at your opponents hip/shoulder.
If your opponent is out of position, or isnāt covering their line, aim down the line.
If theyāre effectively covering their side of the court, aim for their dominant sided hip or shoulder. This will cause them to chicken wing, which means theyāll probably pop the ball up, or give you an easy putaway.
Whereas, if you go down the middle, when you start playing at a higher level, youāre going to get pummelled.
Hope this helps.
