😲 Genie Bouchard suffers brutal pickleball injury

Who says pickleball isn’t dangerous? Just ask Eugenie Bouchard.

The pro tennis star, who’s been making waves in the pickleball world, shared on social media that she took a pickleball directly to the eye during training.

“Got hit in the eye with a pickleball during training today,” Bouchard wrote. “It was a shank off my partner’s paddle straight into the eye. Went to urgent care and have a scratched cornea. The things we do for this sport!”

Ouch.

She even posted the aftermath—a swollen eye and a black eye-patch that gives off serious “pirate on the pickleball court” vibes.

Now, let’s get real. The pickleball might not look intimidating, but that hard plastic can pack a punch, especially when it’s flying at full speed.

Thankfully, Bouchard’s injury wasn’t worse, and she’s expected to heal in a few days. And, in true competitor fashion, she’s not letting this freak accident keep her off the court.

Pickleball may have almost cost her an eye, but it’s safe to say Bouchard isn’t jumping off the bandwagon anytime soon.
