Dreaming of your own backyard court?
So, picture thisāyou step out into your backyard, paddle in hand.
And there it is, your very own pickleball court. Sounds cool, right?
Well, I got invited to test out a private backyard court in Peoria, AZ designed by VersaCourt and it was awesome.
The couple who owns the court? Theyāre retired and play every morning, and I can totally see why.
The courtās surface is way easier on the knees than your typical hard court. After playing, I felt greatāno soreness at all the next day.
Plus, I learned the court lasts 7-10 years before you even have to think about maintenance.
The court is portable too, itās built by connecting modular square tiles.
This means you can move the court, or even make the surface multi-use for other sports like basketball, tennis, or shuffleboard.
Does it play exactly like a standard hard court? Not quite, but close! The bounce is a bit different but I could still play competitive, high-level games.
And from a recreational perspective, Iād say it will meet your needs or even exceed expectations.
So if youāre like me and dream of a pickleball court in your backyardā¦

š¤¾āāļø Master your drive like thisā¦
Iām pumped to welcome back Zane Navratil, one of the top pickleball pros in the world, for this weekās Level Up!
Hey Pickleheads readers,
The drive is possibly the most important shot in pickleball.
A good drive can set up your third shot drop, put offensive pressure on your opponent, or help you transition to the net quickerā¦
So you need yours dialed in, right?
A lot of the time I see players have a big, slow, long swing when they play a drive.
But this type of swing is tough to make good contact with the ball, control it, or add any power to the shot.
Instead, when you drive, you want a nice compact swing with quick acceleration through the ball.
Adopt this method over the next few weeks and youāll find you make better contact with the ball, youāll have better control of your drive and youāll add more power to your shot too šŖ
Hope this helps!

Please welcome Stephen Mijangos, our new Lead Pickleball Paddle Reviewer!
Yāall know I love testing out paddles. I play with a new one every week.
But Iāll be honestā¦ I just canāt keep up! I heard over 1,000 paddles launched in the last year alone š¤Æ
And on top of that, Iāve had a pickleball elbow injury (ugh) and a new baby three weeks ago. Enter Stephen to helpā¦

Bear Creek Park, Colorado Springs, CO
Youāll find this weekās dream court in Bear Creek Park, Colorado Springs.
Set in the rolling foothills of Pikes Peak, Bear Creek Regional Park could well be one of the most picturesque places to play pickleball!
And, if you did visit here for a touch of pickleball, you could make a day of it!
Apparently, not only is there twelve dedicated courts, the 545-acre park also has an archery range, horseshoe pit and a 10-mile trail that winds through the wildernessā¦
Dreamy!
For this price point, thereās still nothing betterā¦
Yāall know about how Iām constantly testing paddles, but thereās one guy whoās been putting in work both on and off the court latelyāStephen!
He just took 2nd in a tournament with the Six Zero Double Black Diamond, itās one of my favorite paddles, and itās now one his top picks too.
Handing over to him nowā¦
Thanks, Brandon! Iāll be honest, the Six Zero Double Black Diamond is one of my new favorite paddles.
The spin this paddle generates is next-level. It grabs the ball and allows me to drive from almost anywhere on the court.
I noticed that my shots dip so hard that I almost never miss long; instead, if I miss, itās into the net.
Once I adjusted, I could hit aggressive drives and drop shots right at my opponentās feet.
And, for a thicker paddle, the pop is fantastic. While itās not as explosive as a Gearbox, it still gives me enough power to put balls away without sacrificing the control I need.
I have to agree with Brandon, if youāre looking for an all-rounder paddle at this price point ($180), I think youāll struggle to find anything better.
