New on Pickleheads - flexible sign ups, round robin upgrades and more!

It's Max, one of the founders here at Pickleheads.

Today, we released a new version of the website and mobile app that includes more flexible sign ups, upgrades to the round robin tool and major improvements to invites.

Here are some of my favorite features from this release:

🙋 Join a session without creating an account

In every pickleball group, there are a few holdouts who refuse to sign up for a new app or website.

Now, those players won’t hold you back from getting an accurate headcount.

When you send a session invite or link to a player who doesn’t have an account, they can add their name to the list without a Pickleheads account.

👍 Add names to the confirmed list - no email or phone number required

Reserve a slot allows you to add players directly to the confirmed list. It’s one of our most popular features.

Now, you can do so without an email or phone number.

This gives you more control over the player list and is perfect for last-minute additions on the court.

🔥 Big improvements to the round robin tool

We’ve been listening to all of your feedback on the round robin tool and are constantly working to make it better!

Here are some of the improvements we packed into this release:

• Export scores and standings to a .CSV

• See who has a bye or is sitting out in a given round

• When a player sits out, missed games now show on the standings

• Edit scores after a competition ends. You can even resubmit to DUPR.

• After a session ends, players can still agree to send scores to DUPR.

• Various other DUPR-related fixes and improvements

📣 A major upgrade for session invites

We ditched the old pkl.rsvp links in favor of a new system.

Now, when players click on an invite link, the app automatically opens to the session page.

If you invite players through Pickleheads, we’ll even automatically log the player in.

This is just one of many upgrades we’re making to invites, notifications and chat. Stay tuned!

🛠️ An absurd amount of little fixes and improvements

We fixed or improved over 80 other things in this version. It was one of our largest releases to date!

What’s up next?

We’re working as hard as we can to launch these features by the end of the year:

• Lists - Create lists of players you like to play with for easy invites.

• Round robin simulator - Play around with every format to understand how the logic works before setting up your session.

• Collecting payments - Seamlessly collect payments for sessions. Users won’t be able to join until they’ve paid.

• Fixed partner round robins - Run fixed partner formats within our round robin tool.
