Hey, Pickleheads readers,
The biggest mistake I see amateurs make when returning serves is treating it like a groundstroke.
They hit their shot, then run to the kitchen line.
You see, returning serves like this makes you SUPER slow.
Instead, do this:
#1 Take a short backswing
When returning a serve, use a short backswing, leverage your forward momentum to hit the ball, and rush the kitchen line.
#2 Split step
Just as your opponent is about to make contact with their serve, you want to split step.
This little split step will help your weight move forward, making you more explosive.
Adopting these two techniques will give you a solid return, making it really hard for your opponents to reach the kitchen line.
