When you line up to serve and see your opponent across the net, where should you actually aim?

As a 6.0 DUPR pro, here’s how I think about it.

Your goal on the serve is not to hit a winner. It’s to make your opponent’s first step go anywhere except forward.

If your opponent can step into their return and move through the ball, they’re getting to the kitchen line early and comfortably. That’s a problem for you.

Instead, you want to move them side to side or get them leaning back. Pull them wide. Jam them slightly. Get them hitting off their back foot. Now they’re scrambling, and late getting to the kitchen.

That small delay changes the entire point.

A great serve doesn’t win you the rally outright. It quietly puts your opponent behind from the very first shot.
