🤾 Hit perfect resets with these 3 pointers
Stoked to welcome back Tanner from Tanner Pickleball on YouTube for this week’s Level Up.
Hey Pickleheads readers,
Struggling with resets in the transition zone? You’re not alone. This is where points are won or lost.
Here are three simple fixes that make a huge difference:
1️⃣ Use two hands on low, fast balls
If it’s coming in below your knees, go two-handed. It gives you way more stability and helps you guide the ball instead of stabbing at it.
2️⃣ Change your paddle angle out wide
When the ball is outside your body, keep your paddle more sideways, not with the tip-down. This keeps the ball traveling on a cleaner, more controlled path instead of popping up.
3️⃣ Lower your body, not just your paddle
In the mid-court, don’t stand tall. Get low and compact. You make yourself more stable and give yourself a better chance to control the reset.
Get these right, and you’ll turn chaos into control fast.

😂 The part of practice nobody enjoys… fixed
Hey Pickleheads readers, Stephen here 👋
If you’ve ever run drills with a big basket of balls, you’ll know the worst part isn’t the hitting. It’s the cleanup, right?
I’ve been testing The Ball Pro over the past few weeks, and it’s quickly become one of those bits of gear I didn’t realize I needed.
At first glance, it’s simple. Think of it as a ball tube alternative. But instead of holding 15–20 balls, this holds around 50. In practice, that means it replaces two or three standard tubes in one.
And it still packs down small. Fold it up and it’s about the size of a single tube, maybe even smaller. Easy to throw in the car and forget about.
Using it feels familiar too. Picking balls up is just as easy as a regular tube. Maybe slightly trickier in tight corners, but nothing that slows you down. The handle is comfortable, easy to move, and there’s even a really satisfying click when it scoops balls up.
Where it really shines is during lessons.
I’m regularly working through 60–70 balls in a session, and this cuts cleanup time massively. Less time collecting, more time teaching or drilling.
It’s not the cheapest option out there. You’re looking at the price of two or three tubes. But that’s exactly what it replaces, so the value stacks up.
If you’re coaching or drilling regularly, this li’l contraption is a no-brainer.

What would help you level up fastest right now? |

We just added something to our Plus subscription I'm personally really excited about. Pickleheads Plus now includes unlimited 4-player round robins.
If you play regular doubles with the same crew, you know the deal. You play, someone claims they're up in the series, and nobody can prove it.
Now you can log the scores of every doubles match and keep your stats up to date.
Set up a 4-player round robin, invite your crew, and crown a winner every session! 👑
The app keeps track of it all for you — win/loss record, match history, all of it.
Want to try it out? Create a session → Choose a format (I use Double Header) → Set player count to 4 → Hit the courts!
