šŖ Selkirkās BRAND NEW powerhouse paddle

Hey Pickleheads ā Stephen here with some BIG NEWS.
Selkirkās LABS Project Boomstik officially launches today, and Iāve already spent weeks testing it behind the scenesā¦Spoiler: it lives up to its name!
This is Selkirkās most unapologetically powerful paddle yet. Huge pop, elite spin, and a sweet spot thatās bigger than it has any right to be. It even sounds like a boomstick when you make clean contact.
The Boomstik is also Selkirkās first paddle in a long time that made me seriously consider switching. But itās not for everyone ā especially if youāre still working on your touch game or arenāt ready to drop $333 on a paddle.
In my full review, I break down how it compares to other top-tier power paddles, why the wide-body model might be a sleeper hit, and what kind of player will actually benefit from this thing.

If you want the fastest, most durable, or just the best value ball right now, start here.
I just finished testing all the major top brands ā Franklin, Dura, Vulcan, Selkirk, you name it ā and made a few changes to our top picks based on durability, flight, and real-world performance. Some balls held up. Others didnāt.
It doesnāt matter whether youāre playing indoors or out, you prefer a slower ball or something that zips, this guide has updated recommendations for every kind of player.

𤾠90% of players donāt need this shot
Iām excited to welcome back a newer contributor, coach Tony from Better Pickleball Academy, for this weekās Level Up.
Hey Pickleheads readers,
Letās talk about the roll volley. Youāve probably seen players use it or maybe tried to add it to your own game. But hereās the truthā¦
Most players donāt need it.
In fact, Iād say 90% of rec players would be better off skipping the roll volley altogether. Itās difficult to master, easy to mess up, and doesnāt really impact your game until youāre well past the 4.0 level.
So what should you do instead? Use the punch volley.
It delivers the same benefits ā pressure, pace, and control ā but with far fewer mistakes.
Iām not saying the roll volley is useless. It has its place. But if you want results now, focus on clean, confident punch volleys. Youāll play smarter and win more points.
Watch this weekās breakdown to learn why and see both shots in action š
šÆ Must have shots for 3.5 and above!
In his next live Strategy Clinic on Thursday, August 28 at 3 PM PT / 6 PM ET, Coach Tony will show you the must-have shots for 3.5+ playersāusing real game footage to break it all down.
Youāll learn:
ā The key āfoundationalā shots that drive progress
ā Which shots to skipāand why they hold players back
ā How to build a reliable game with purpose and confidence

The Prairie Pickleball Court, WI
Nestled in the wildflower-covered prairie of New Glarus, Wisconsin, this private court sits next to a setting so serene that games often pause to take in the view.
Or, to watch badgers, turkeys, and deer wander through the surrounding grass.
The courtās painted to match the rustic red house, blending perfectly with the landscape. Here, youāll find the kind of peace you just donāt get at your local rec center.
